Heavy-Duty Wooden Sculpting Gouges – Large Bent Tool for Bowl Carving

Introducing the Heavy-Duty Wooden Sculpting Gouges, designed specifically for bowl carving and relief work on larger wooden surfaces. This large bent tool, featuring a 7 profile, is ideal for creating depth and intricate details in your wood sculpting projects.

The unique bent shape of the tool enables a distinctive angle of approach, making it easier to reach various areas of the wood, resulting in more comfortable and controlled carving motions. The 7 profile indicates the depth of the curved blade, allowing you to carve medium-sized grooves effortlessly into the wood.

Constructed for durability, this tool includes two copper rings on the handle, ensuring it withstands the challenges of major wood sculpting tasks. It is available in several cutting edge widths to suit your specific needs:

– 30mm (1.2 in)

– 40mm (1.6 in)

– 50mm (2 in)

– 60mm (2.4 in)

– 70mm (2.8 in)

For this style of wood carving, a wood mallet serves as an excellent auxiliary tool, complementing the gouges for optimal performance. Crafted from carbon steel W1-7, the blade features a thickness of 3mm (0.11 in) and boasts a Rockwell hardness of 60-62 HRC, ensuring it remains sharp for use on both soft and hardwood.

The handle is made from oak wood, treated with linseed oil for added durability and comfort. The total length of the tool is 290mm (11.4 in), providing a balanced feel during use.

For enhanced versatility, we recommend pairing this gouge with rubber or leather mallets, specifically models art.826007, art.827010, art.827510, and art.829010.
